Search and Notifications

The Console gives you one place to search for information across your work. When you open a result, a Power Window brings its related information together in a cluster, so you can see the documents, people and activity connected to it without starting a separate search for each one.

Notifications and calendars help you keep up with what happens next. They draw your attention to relevant work and dates according to your responsibilities and permissions.

Search from one page

Go to the Console’s search page when you need to find a customer, person, document, job, inventory item or other record. Enter a name, reference or another detail you know, then review the matching results.

You do not need to remember which part of the Console first held the information. Search gives you a common starting point for finding it. If a term produces too many results, add a more specific name or reference.

The records you can find depend on what your account is permitted to see.

Explore a result in its Power Window

Select a result to open its Power Window. It shows the chosen record with related information gathered around it as a cluster.

A job, for example, may have people, documents and other relevant records connected to it. A customer may be associated with contacts and work your company is handling. This lets you explore the context from one place and follow the connection that answers your question.

Check the details of the record you opened before acting on it. If you are looking for a file, make sure you have the version relevant to the current work.

Find people and documents in context

Search is useful when you know part of the story but not the exact file or person you need. You may remember the customer but not the document name, or know a job reference but not who is responsible for it.

Open the result and review its cluster to see the connected documents and involved parties available to you. This can help you find the right person to contact or the information needed to continue a task.

The cluster reflects the records associated with that result. Keeping customer, work and document information current makes it more useful to everyone who relies on it.

Receive relevant notifications

The Console sends notifications about activity that concerns your role or work. These may include assignments, changes to work, messages, reviews, sign-offs, deadlines or items that need your attention.

You do not need to depend on a colleague manually passing along every routine update. When a notification arrives, open the related record to understand what happened and what, if anything, you need to do.

A notification points you towards the work. Review the full task, message or document before making a decision.

See the updates meant for you

Notifications depend on your company’s permissions and assignments. A technician may receive an update about work assigned to them. A supervisor may need to review a delay or completion. A manager may receive a decision or sign-off request.

Different people can therefore receive different notifications connected to the same wider job. Each person sees the activity relevant to their responsibility, while authorised managers can review the broader position.

If you are not receiving updates you need, ask an administrator to review your account, team, location and permissions.

Look ahead with calendars

Calendars give you a view of upcoming work and commitments. Where your company uses calendar import, existing calendar information can be brought into the Console. Relevant dates recorded as your team plans and manages work can also populate the calendar.

Use the calendar to prepare for what is ahead and notifications to notice new activity or changes. Check important dates and assignments against the underlying work, especially if a plan has recently changed.

Your calendar view, like your notifications, reflects the information relevant and available to your account.

Make search part of your work

Before creating a new customer, job or document record, search to see whether it already exists. When you need context, open the result’s Power Window and explore its related cluster. When you receive a notification, follow it to the associated work and review what has changed.

Search helps you understand what is connected. Notifications and calendars help you see what needs attention and when.
